William Reaves Fine Art specializes in artists active in Texas between the years of 1900-1975.  The gallery offers paintings and sculpture by premier Texas artists of this period who are generally associated with one or more distinctive “schools” of early Texas art.  The gallery buys and sells early twentieth century paintings by the Texas Impressionists.  Works of prominent Texas Regionalists are also sought by the gallery.

William Reaves Fine Art focuses especially on works of The Houston Founders, a group of pioneering Houston artists working in the middle decades of the twentieth century, whose collective efforts influenced Texas art of that period and laid the foundation for the city’s thriving contemporary arts community.  Consistent with this focus on Houston artists, the gallery will offer earlier works produced by African-American Expressionists, a group of Houston-based artists led by Dr. John Biggers and others associated with the art department at Texas Southern University.

The gallery will also offer fine examples of Texas Modernists, including artists working around the state from the forties through the mid-seventies.  Finally, William Reaves Fine Art will present a select group of excellent Contemporary Texas Regionalists who paint with subject and/or style that is inspired by earlier Texas artists and whose work evokes the best qualities of the subject period.
