About Us
William (Bill) Reaves, Founder and President, has been active in the early Texas art community for over twenty years as a collector, author, guest curator, and volunteer. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the San Antonio Art League, as well as a founder and former Chairman of the Board of the Center for the Advancement and Study of Early Texas Art (CASETA). He has also been an active member of Texas collector societies in Austin (Central Texas TACO) and Houston (HETAG). He has served as guest curator or advisor for several exhibitions of Texas paintings, including exhibitions at the San Antonio Art League Museum, the Heritage Society-Houston, and the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. He is the author of Texas Art and a Wildcatter’s Dream, published by the Texas A&M University Press.
Sarah Beth Wilson, Gallery Director, joined WRFA in September 2009 as Assistant Gallery Director and was promoted August 2010 to the position of Gallery Director. Sarah graduated from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth in 2009 with her Masters of Arts in art history. While working on her masters, Sarah worked as curatorial intern at the Kimbell Art Museum. She has also worked as curatorial intern at Baylor University’s Martin Museum of Art in Waco, where she completed her undergraduate degree in 2006 in art history and museum studies. Sarah is elated at the opportunity to expand her art interests into the Texas art world and enthusiastic to be involved in the Houston art community.
Leslie Thompson, Assistant Gallery Director, is the most recent addition to the WRFA team as of August 2010. Leslie is a graduate of The University of North Texas attaining the B.A. in art history in 2007. Leslie also holds the Master of Arts degree in art history from Texas Christian University where she graduated May 2009. She has previously held professional internships at the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth, Texas, where she worked as curatorial intern and curatorial research assistant. Leslie is excited to participate in the vibrant Houston art community, and is eager to expand her art interests in the Houston and Texas art world.
Stephen Gaskin, Gallery Associate, also has a passion for Texas art. He is a collector of mid-century Texas works and an avid student of Texas art history. Steve is an active member of the Center for the Advancement and Study of Early Texas Art (CASETA) and the Houston Early Texas Art Group (HETAG). During his tenure at William Reaves Fine Art Steve has curated over twenty gallery exhibitions including one man shows for Bill Reily, McKie Trotter, Jack Boynton, Richard Stout, David Adickes and Harvey Johnson.
